Ashbourne Ghost Walk:
Starting at the Town Hall, Andrew Elson, Haunted Company’s in-house clairvoyant medium, will begin your evening with ghostly tales of Ashbourne. From the haunted Town Hall to the hauntings of the Green Man Hotel (as seen on TV). Not to mention the drowning of a man in the old well just off the market place, the figures of children who can still be seen looking out of the windows of the old grammar school, and much more. We will also visit the towns old railway tunnel which is said to be haunted by old steam trains.
Town Hall – History:
Built in 1861 on the site of the haunted Old Talbot Inn, by architect Benjamin Wilson in what is essentially an Italianate style, this magnificent venue was originally built for town meetings and as the towns market hall. Today it continues to be used as a venue for parties, entertainment, weddings and special markets. The town council chambers are towards the back of the building, and some of these are still in use today.
A small few investigations have taken place in recent years, reporting unexplained drops in temperature, footsteps in the ballroom and people reporting feelings of extreme emotions. Andrew Elson, Haunted Company’s in house Medium, who is currently doing ghost walks around Ashbourne town on a Tuesday night, has visited the building on several occasions and is convinced that the building has plenty of hidden ghostly secrets yet to be discovered. Not to mention the historical hauntings of the Old Talbot Inn on which the Town Hall now stands.
