Ford green Hall was originally built for Hugh Ford in 1624 as a working dairy farm within 36 acres of land. This fantastic timber framed farm house remained in the Ford family for almost 200 years, falling into decline when they left the property, after which it was divided into three then later four smaller cottages. In 1987 the property suffered a severe flood and was subsequently closed for two years while restoration work was completed. The hall is now managed by the charity Ford Green Hall ltd, which is led by volunteers who’s work raises funds for the continuing renovation and improvements of the building, and who work closely with Stoke-on-Trent’s City Council and its museums. The venue retains many of it’s original features inside and out, and is furnished with an outstanding collection of furniture, making it a wonderful example of a 17th century building.
As you’d probably expect, Ford Green Hall has it’s fair share of reported hauntings. From a full manifestation of William Ford, a former owner of the building, who has been seen walking around with his silver-topped cane, to a mysterious lady whom only young children have seen. The smell of fire is also commonly experienced. This will be our first investigation here and we can’t wait to see what other strange and unusual occurrences we will find!
