Matlock Bath has a chequered history dating back before Roman times. From the poltergeist who throws hammers at work men at the Midland Hotel, to Roman Soldiers walking through the old lead mines beneath the Hodgekinson Hotel, there are lots of spirits to discover while visiting the village. Two Victorian lovers are said to walk hand in hand in the park with their dog, and Mr Herbert Buxton wanders through the Derwent Gardens checking the old fairground switch back ride. There are the lost spirits of children running around the Grand Pavilion building playing, and the spirit of Betty looking out of the windows waiting for her husband to come back from World War One – unfortunately he never returned. Old miners in the local Mining Museum wander around wanting their tools back, and much much More!
. Don’t forget to bring your mobile phones or cameras for photos and video footage to remember your visit to one of the most haunted villages in the UK. Prepare to be Scared!
